I haven't verified the backups by actually using them yet, but at least it backed up my whole PC without further problems. I was about to buy Acronis TI from Amazon, but the comments here caused me to first try the trial. It's true, what others have said here -- nothing but lock up and blue screens of death! The next two times, as it was starting to search for files, it suddenly went to the BSD!

This program has been recommended to me by many sales people, by reviews, etc. Acronis states that they offer free support for the trial version not of purchased copies -- go figure -- we'll see if they respond and can solve this problem. But it's not a good start! NOT SO! Fortunately, I did manage to register the program after installation, so now I should be able to get some support from your regular support people. Post a Comment. Mustang's New Guides Les Seiler's Backup Video. I even tried moving the cursor around on the screen - trying to click on a button that might work, and all it does is "beep".

And powering off the PC, I have to hold the power button in for the wait period to "force" it to power down. So, it's hung pretty good. The interesting thing is it works with level - so something got broken in the new maintenance level.

I have done "clean" installs of all the versions and maintenance levels, to make sure there are no anomalies with what's running. I haven't had any reason to change to the build. Since TrueImage level works, and TrueImage level works - but level does not, I would suspect something changed between and to make it not work. That's just one of those "gut feels". I think if it was a driver problem, the problem would occur before the backup was finished.

The backup does run to a normal completion - it's just that instead of the pop-up coming out saying it completed, there is no pop-up and it's just the menu screen This has me thinking of installing a "Reset" button on the rear of the PC - that is something easy to do! At this point, I'm not running in Windows. I'm running the stand-alone bootable True Image disk. I run a backup on weekends using this, so I can get a good backup of everything to an external disk - including Windows in a "shut down" state.

Yes, if I was running in Windows, and the PC wasn't hung up, I could go into that and end the process. I booted it, and it has the same issue - if you do a backup of a hard drive, it does the backup - but instead of the "completed" pop-up, it just goes back to the menu screen - and there is no way to get out of it without powering off the PC.

It will do a "Recovery" operation with no problem, it is just on a "Backup" operation that the problem occurs. I'm one that likes to do disk imaging outside of Windows.

The behavior you have observed if very strange - I don't pretend to understand why, though. It would be interesting to find out, but if you are at all like me, you don't really have the time to do what is necessary to solve the mystery.

Hi Gary, TrueImage does work well with WinPE, and it's really not that complicated to make once you've done it a couple times, lol. If you get a spare moment, you might make a "bootable recovery disk" and try doing a backup with that - and see if you have the same problem with TrueImage build I'm having.

It should be easy to reproduce the problem - it happens every time for me. Sometime this week I'm going to put a "Reset" button on the back of the PC so I don't have to power it off when something like this happens. I'm not inclined to try build At least, not install it. They all work. Hence, in some cases, the product may assign incorrect disk geometry, and as a result the restored system will be unbootable. You can find additional information at this KB article.

You're right I got "confused". The "Acronis Loader-based" bootable media I was using seems to boot into Linux, hence my confusion. Could you please clarify where Backup Location is placed whether it's on internal, external, or network hard drive?

Could you please save the archive to another than the current location from internal to external drive, from networked to internal drive, etc. This will help to localize the issue. We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other questions do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

I should be able to try a backup with the downloaded ISO which is Acronis loader - I used it yesterday possibly tonight. I always set it to shutdown after the backup and validation. I'll let you know if I see any problem.
